簡約日本語

　今日本語ブームです。世界で日本語を習っている人は１００万人以上あります。このブームにこたえて、先頃、国立国語研究所所長の野元菊男氏は「簡易日本語」を発表しました。外人に日本語を簡単に覚えてもらうためです。
　ところで君はこの前、英語の授業で「北風と太陽」という話を勉強しましたが、左（ブログでは下）にあるのは、この話を「簡約日本語」になおした一例です。一度読んで下さい。

「北風と太陽」（いずれも野元所長の訳）

通常の日本語：
　まず北風が強く吹き始めた。しかし北風が強く吹けば吹くほど、旅人はマントにくるまったのだった。遂に北風は、彼からマントを脱がせるのをあきらめた。

簡易日本語：
　まず北の風が強く吹き始めました。しかし北の風が強く吹きますと吹きますほど、旅行をします人は、上に着ますものを強く体につけました。とうとう北の風は彼から上に着けますものを脱ぎさせますことをやめませんとなりませんでした。

　どうも変な日本語ですね。それは名刺の数を１０００語に制限し、文法も簡単なものにしてあるからです。例えば、「だ」「である」調は使わずに、全て「です」「ます」調にしてあります。
　日本語を習う外人にはこの「簡易日本語」は役立つと言う人もいます。君はどう思いますか。

BASIC JAPANESE

　　Japanese is now becoming popular. More than 1,000,000 people all over the world are studying it.
　　Mr. Kikuo Nomoto, head of the National Institute of Japanese Study, wanted to help foreigner to learn Japanese. So, he made Basic Japanese and showed it Japanese people a few weeks ago. He put “The North Wind and the Sun” into Basic Japanese. Do you remember the story? You studied it in my English class the other day. On the left side (see the Japanese above in this blog) is a part of the story in Basic Japanese. Please read it.
　　It is strange Japanese. Why? Because Basic Japanese has only 1000 nouns. Also, the grammatical rules are simple. For example, it uses only the polite “desu” and “masu” style, and not the strong “da” and “dearu” style.
　　Is Basic Japanese useful for foreigners? Some say, “Yes,” but others say, “No.” What do you think?
