[10] 私達もがんばりました WE DID OUR BEST, TOO

私達もがんばりました

　第１０回職員コーラスは如何でしたか。実は、私達職員も密かに練習していたのです。
　勿論、歌の指導は井原先生で、熱心な指導を受けました。何回も練習しましたが、教え方が上手だから、下手な歌もどうにか聞けるようになっていきました。彼の美しく力強い歌にはみんな感心しました。
　井原先生の模範テープが各先生に配られました。Ａ先生は職員室でそれを聞いて練習し、Ｂ先生は通勤の車の中で聞きました。私はバスの中で聞きましたが、私が口をパクパクしていたため隣の人に変な目で見られました。
　当日みんな緊張し、南大のメールクワイヤーの歌など聞いておれませんでした。Ｃ先生は「どうも心臓がおかしい」、Ｄ先生は「腹が痛くなってきた」と言いました。Ｅ先生はもう一度楽譜をおさらいし始めました。
　ついに出番です。声高らかに歌いました。諸君ほどうまくは歌えませんでしたが、優勝した２Ｄの生徒と同様の満足感がありました。

WE DID OUR BEST, TOO

　　Did you enjoy the teachers’ chorus at the 10th Chorus Contest? We, teachers were secretly practicing, too.
　　Our singing teacher was, of course, Mr. Ihara. He taught us hard. We practiced over and over again. He was very good at teaching us in singing. Because of his wonderful teaching, our poor songs became better and better. We all admired his beautiful and strong songs.
　　Mr. Ihara recorded his model songs on a tape, and gave each teacher the tape. A-sensei listened to the tape and sang in the teachers’ room. B-sensei listened to the tape in his car when he drove to school. I myself listened to the tape in the bus. A man who was sitting by me looked at me strangely because I was moving my mouth.
　　On the contest day, we were nervous. We could not enjoy Nanzan Male Choir’s songs. C-sensei said, “My heart is beating hard.” D-sensei said, “I am getting a stomach ache.” E-sensei began to look at the music paper again.
　　Finally our turn came. We sang. We sang at the top of our voice. Our songs were not as beautiful as yours, but we felt as happy as J2D class students who won the first prize.
